Let’s go back to the bad old days, with a younger-me written fairy story. Yes, fairies. I liked them then, okay? So you have your basic elements: water, light, earth and…animals? Yeah. It’s pretty obvious which one is which, so…enjoy?
One day, the fairies wanted to go on an adventure. But they couldn’t think of anything. “Solve crimes?” Riveria asked. They yawned.”Time travel?” Daisia asked. Been there, done that. “Go hunting for rare magic crystals?” Animalinia asked. They fell asleep. Alumina woke up and said “Go shopping?” “zzzz…yes!” they all said.
Their funds? Together, they had 146 unicorn horns, a bracelet, a feather, a heart-shaped rock, a human hair, some grass and…another Eleanor McEvoy CD. So they went shopping. They passed Jambo’s Jelly & Jackalopes, Cute Chickens Co., Angry Auburn Apples, and Dana’s Doggie Diner. Finally they found the perfect shop: Ollie’s Ordinary Opals. The sign said:
They came in and immediately saw four beautiful rings. They knew they wanted those, even though the music rings looked pretty tempting. They were 110 unicorn horns. So they bought them. The shopkeeper said there was a strange story about them, but they liked strange stories. When they got out, Alumina tripped on a (conveniently placed) log and clicked the rings together. That was the message for the magic rings to turn on. Alumina turned invisible, Riveria could shape-shift, Dasia could make the world different colors and Animalinia could make the world different volumes. So a couple minutes later, there they were; an invisible fairy, a zebra, and two fairies in a purple and very quiet world. The two astronauts orbiting the earth were extremely surprised.
But Alumina didn’t like everyone stepping on her, and nobody would let Riveria into shops. They started planning…but before they could make a plan, Riveria tripped on that same log, and their rings clicked together again. Everyone was back to normal again, they just had to watch out for logs.
But the astronauts thought they were really crazy now.
