What to read this summer to refresh your brain

It seems like kids lose some of their learning during the summer. How better to make up for it than to read? (RHETORICAL QUESTION ALERT) So here’s my list of what to read (that I’ve read, that is) during those lazy summer days.

Psychology: The Name Of This Book Is Secret (well, the synesthesia bit, anyway)

Sumerian Mythology/History: Snow Crash

Greek Mythology: (Three Way Tie) Nobody’s Princess, The Shadow Thieves, and Gods Behaving Badly.

Mixed Bag O’ Mythology: Summerland

Gastronomy: The Man Who Ate Everything

Ecology: (Tie) Dune and Zodiac

Etymology: Word Myths

Philosophy: (Tie) The Giver and Anathem (parts 1-5 here, parts 5-13 here SPOILERS ON 5-13)

Law: Thus Was Adonis Murdered and The Shortest Way To Hades

Vocab: Archie Comics

And for social things at school:

Romance: Jane Eyre

Friendship: Whales On Stilts (must not write exclamation point. must not. must…)!

Dishonorable Mentions:

Japanese Language (does one word count?): Zen Attitude

How To Build A Dinosaur: Jurassic Park

Science (I sure hope your science class isn’t this boring): A Bone From A Dry Sea
